Changes Life Skills Groups

The Freedom4U Changes Groups will support and teach life skills to teens and parents. 

The Changes Groups uses evidenced-based material, peer mentors, healthy activities and service learning to guide teens and parents toward healthy coping skills.

The Changes Groups consist of:

• Stress Reduction Skills
• Teen Life Skills Discussion Group 
• Parent Discussion Group
• Healthy Activities
• Service Learning  

Changes Teen Life Skills Discussion Groups Topics include:

• Relationships with friends
• Coping with stress
• Communication skills
• Dealing with difficult emotions
• The party scene and what to do about it
• Finding your passion
• Understanding your strengths
• Making a difference in your life 
• Having healthy fun
• Improving family relationships 

The Changes Group is a weekly group for ten weeks.
There are weekly separate parent and teen 90-minute groups. 

Cost: $30 per group or $60 per week which covers both parent and teen groups.

Financial assistance is available. Freedom4U is seeking donations to make the groups available to all families. All donations are tax-deductible. 

Personal individual and family therapy options are also available.

WiseGuys

 A Life Skills Workshop for Guys ages 11-15. 10 things every teen guy needs to know!

• Life skills to get the most out of the teen years.

• Developing the kinds of relationships you want to have with others–peers, girls, parents, siblings.

• Setting and achieving your goals.

• How to succeed in school & still have fun.

• How to use your wisdom to avoid the most common mistakes teenagers make.

School Based Counseling Services

Freedom4U is pleased to partner with PVPUSD, MBUSD, RBUSD and TUSD in providing school based counseling services. Currently, we are providing services at Peninsula, Palos Verdes, Mira Costa, Redondo Union, West & South Torrance High Schools along with Ridgecrest, Miraleste & Palos Verdes Intermediate Schools. Freedom4U also sponsors and provides Substance Abuse Counseling Services at Peninsula & PV High Schools.

Services consist of:

• Support groups

• Personal & family counseling

Group focus on:

• New to high school students

• Girls & boys social-emotional support

• Study skills

• Divorced Kids

• Grief Group

Musicians for Events and Instruction

Freedom4U provides young talented musicians for events, parties and gatherings. Options are solo and combo performers. Acoustic & electric guitar, piano, sax, bass & vocalists can perform jazz, blues, rock & other classical styles of music.

We also have music instruction available for children, teens and adults. Music lessons are available for guitar, bass, sax, piano/keys and drums. Instructors are current and graduated University Music Majors. Our instructors also perform professionally throughout the greater LA and NY areas.

Future classes, groups, and workshops being developed for youth are:
Communication Skills, Peer Resistance Skills, Esteem Building, Anti-Bullying, Random Acts of Kindness, Business Skills, Financial Skills, Career Skills, Motivation & Public Speaking. For adults we are also planning these classes: Parenting Skills & Marriage Enhancement Training.
